Our Mission

"Whether you are looking for a new church home, or just looking, LAPC strives to be a pace where you can be free, empowered, and open to ask all of your questions - and hopefully find some answers."

  • We understand ourselves to be a church that proclaims and practices the reconciling Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • We are called by that Gospel to create a space where people of any faith or none can question and discover the sacred in life through openness, honesty, laughter and prayer.

  • We are called by the Gospel to welcome and celebrate human diversity - including spirituality, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.

  • We are called by the Gospel to a common commitment to be in active solidarity with the forgotten and marginalized people of the US and the world.

With a long history of progressive leadership, LAPC stands at the vanguard of social justice and at the center of creating and providing a community hub for advocacy among neighbors, the broader community and the world.

Welcoming and affirming all people into the life of the church, LAPC is a member congregation of the Presbytery of New York, part of the Presbyterian Church, USA and a "More Light" congregation.

A Message from our Pastor

Beloved, We are grateful you have taken the time to get to know us better. LAPC is a diverse community of faith where people of faith or no faith at all can come and discover the sacred in life.  Through openness, honesty, laughter, music and prayer, we hope we can learn more about ourselves, our world and the Divine.

We strive to be a church where stirring worship and relevant preaching and teaching will culminate in robust action inside and outside the church.

Whether you are a family looking for something for everyone in your household, an activist ready to continue revolutionary work, or a person struggling with faith who needs conversation partners, LAPC is here for you.

Stop by for worship, schedule a chat with me or meet us online on our social media platforms.

We're excited about the work God is leading us to do in this neighborhood and beyond.

It just won't be the same without you.

Won't you join us?

In Anticipation of Our Shared Vision,

Rev. David F. Telfort

Pastor
